Hi there!
It’s been a while since I’ve written a travel post. We actually visited NYC last October on my birthday, but I wasn’t able to write about this trip immediately. The pandemic has brought a lot of changes, there were a lot of travel restrictions, and I got so uninspired to write anything about travel.
Anyway, things are looking a lot better now. I’m hoping that soon we will be able to travel and explore more places again. So, let me share with you a few NYC travel photos and tips to help you plan your next trip.
The High Line
Walking the High Line is one of the fun and free things you can do in Manhattan. This 1.45-mile elevated park is a great way to experience nature, art, design, and unique vistas of the city.
It’s approximately a 30-minute walk from the southernmost entrance to the northernmost entrance. We started from Gansevoort Street and ended in Hudson Yards. It took us almost 2 hours to finish our leisurely walk because we really enjoyed the views and we had to make multiple stops to take pictures.
Travel Tips
1. Due to the pandemic, the park hours vary. Right now, the park is open from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays. On Saturdays and Sundays, it is open from 10 am to 6 pm (timed-entry reservations). Check out their website and reserve your pass for weekend visits.
2. Bathrooms are located at Gansevoort Street Entrance and 16th Street.
3. Review the park rules and COVID-related visitor precautions.
4. If you want to grab a bite before walking the High Line from Gansevoort Street, stop by Chelsea Market and enjoy a wide array of delicious cuisines.
5. After walking the High Line, make sure to include Hudson Yards in your itinerary. Here you’ll experience the NYC skyline outdoors on the Edge – the highest sky deck in the western hemisphere. Plus, you’ll also see one of the latest landmarks in NYC – The Vessel.
I had a wonderful birthday trip to NYC, and I can’t wait to go back and explore the big city again. Any plans of visiting NYC in the future? What would you like to see? Please share in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you so much for reading. Have a lovely Spring ahead!

I went to the High Line when I was in New York back in 2017 and it really is such a cool spot! It’s interesting to see how they’ve adjusted things due to the pandemic. I’d definitely love to go back!

I’m glad they’ve adjusted things and allowed people to visit. It would be nice to visit again during Spring and see the different gardens too.

We were planning to visit NYC last April, but our schedule got a little crazy. Hopefully, we will be able to go there again soon. There are so many places I still need to see. Anyway, which area are you going to in Upstate NY? We live in Albany.

Glad you got to go! Not far from Albany! We’re staying in Saratoga, my mother in law lives about 15 mins from there. Looking forward to some milder (than TX) summer weather. 🙂

Saratoga is really nice – concerts, casino, and great food. It’s also near Lake George. The average temp right now is between 60-90 degrees. Hope you and your family will have a fun summer vacation.

We had a great time! We’ve spent time at my MIL’s but not a ton in Saratoga itself. Our rental house was walking distance to downtown, the track (though it wasn’t open yet) and the casino, we had some amazing food and some not so good (some places are struggling to come back). It was too rainy the last 2 weeks but so great to finally see family and friends again. Hope you are having a nice summer!
