New York is planning to re-open soon. Looking back, I can’t help but reflect on the many life lessons I’ve learned from the lockdown.
1. Stop overthinking.
The outpatient surgical center where I work temporarily closed a few months ago. I was re-assigned to different areas in the hospital. It was nerve-wracking thinking about working on unfamiliar grounds. There were so many thoughts running through my mind. My hubby reminded me to stop overthinking and just muster the courage to show up at work and tackle each task the best way that I can.
At first, I felt like a fish out of water. But, as time goes by, I became more comfortable doing the various procedures. I’ve learned a lot and gained new nursing skills from that experience.
2. Take better care of yourself.
As a health care professional, I’m fully aware of the importance of taking care of ourselves. However, I wasn’t really consistent with eating a healthy meal, taking my vitamins, and getting enough rest.
The lockdown changed that. I made sure to eat my greens, take my vitamins, and get at least 8 hours of sleep. Now, more than ever, I must have a strong immune system to fight off Covid-19 and other viruses.
3. When one door closes, open another door.
I love to travel and write about our adventures. But, we haven’t been anywhere, so I ran out of photos and blog ideas.
What else can I write about?
I was so uninspired to blog for a while. Until one day, when my hubby and I decided to use the white wall of our apartment as a backdrop for a fashion photoshoot. I wore some of my go-to outfits for spring, and we had so much fun. I wrote about it, posted a few photos on Instagram, and tagged one of my fave brands – NY & Company.
Two weeks ago, I received an e-mail from them, inviting me to be part of their latest campaign. I’m so happy about this partnership because I totally love this brand. On my next post, I’ll be sharing with you some of my outfits from their spring/summer collection.
4. It’s ok not to be productive all the time.
Go…go….go!
That has been my life before the lockdown. I work from Mon-Fri in a fast-paced environment. I spend most of my weekends writing, traveling, or attending social events. I’m one of those Type A personality individuals who feel guilty if they are not doing anything productive.
I’ve learned to slow down a bit. I take long naps, watch YouTube videos for hours, sip my coffee, relax, and just be thankful for whatever blessings each day brings.
5. Tough times don’t last.
So many things have changed in our lives. We have to adjust to the new normal. There are challenges at every turn. Some days can be really rough that I needed to step back and have a good cry before I can get through my day.
This COVID-19 pandemic won’t last forever. Things may never be the same again. But, I still believe that better days lie ahead of us. In the meantime, let’s continue to pray, support, and encourage each other.
How are you holding up? What are some life lessons you’ve learned during the lockdown? Feel free to share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you so much for reading. Stay strong. Stay safe. Stay healthy! ❤️

All very valuable lessons! Thank you for sharing. During this time period I was able to take better care of my health as well. I understood the importance of taking care of myself yet always being on the go it was hard to do so. Also, congratulations having NY & Company reaching out to you for their campaign!

I was always on the go too, that I sometimes skip eating breakfast or taking my vitamins. Not anymore, a healthy body is our best defense against the viruses. Thank you so much for reading. Stay safe!
Do you get some excercises or walking?
Do you pray for peace and love in Quarantine if you do not mind asking…?
My hubby and I sometimes go for an afternoon walk at the park. And yes… I do pray for love and peace. God has always been my source of strength.
When the night gets dark
And the clouds make a lightening spark ,
Water would nourish us with rain ,
to bring joy and transcend the pain ,
All things happen through us to gain ,
For us to rebalance again ,
With divine spirit , we remain
Guidance and love , we restore and retain ,
God help all included Spain …
Perfection! I’m so glad to see you taking advantage of the difficulties we were presented with this year! I’ve managed to do the same as time is fleeting! I’ve been loving every moment home with my little guys (2 & 3 years old) whereas before, I was missing out on so much time wiht them! It’s been a huge blessing to me!
Thank you Kelly Ann. Glad that you’re having such a wonderful time with the little ones 🙂
Great lessons. I learnt to appreciate slowing down and not being productive 24hrs. The world would end.
So thank you! 🙏💙
It’s hard to slow down…. but I’m getting better at enjoying each precious moment everyday. Thank you for reading and stay safe my friend.
🤗🙏🤗
Thanks for writing this post. I’ve been doing a lot of #s 2 & 4 and making the most of the lockdown while it lasts! You have to look at the brighter side of things, right?
Right. It can be challenging to look at the brighter side at times. But, focusing on the positive things helps me get through my day and be more thankful of what I still have in my life.
What a lovely post. These are good life lessons. I learned these lessons too during lockdown. I like no 3 and 4.

Fantastic post 🙂 I think it’s so important to reflect on our time in lockdown
Thank you 🙂
I love this post. I’ve learned so many things from this lockdown as well, most of which are positive self-care initiatives.
Yes…Self-care is one area we really need to focus on.
All great lessons. I’ve loved the slower pace of life and like you’ve I’ve realised I don’t need to be on the go all the time.

Thanks Lauren 🙂
Great article! I love how you pointed out that tough times don’t last, because whenever I am going through rough times, I keep reminding myself that someday, things will get better and that couldn’t be truer during this pandemic. My latest article is something similar, 5 ways quarantine changed me – https://simplymyperspectiv.blogspot.com/2020/06/5-ways-quarantined-has-changed-me.html
I keep reminding myself the same thing too. Thank you for reading. I also left a comment on your latest post. Stay safe!
WOW FRITZIE!!! Keep inspiring! You bless us all here at WP! Love you Sis! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for reading dearest Yeka! Love you lots!
Mental health, especially now, is soooo important – but the three months have been useful, at least for me, to finally face certain feelings and knowing how I can deal with them.
Thank you for sharing – and hoping you’re doing okay 🙂
I agree that mental health is so vital to cope during this very uncertain time. Glad that you were able to find ways to deal with everything you’re going through.
Thank you for reading – stay safe and well!
Oooh! I feel you about these lessons. I feel you about overthinking. Times are unpredictable right now. Self-care is SOOOO important!!! You can get worn out so easily during times like this. Love that you found inspiration to blog with the collab!! I try to find different activities every week :). Stay safe!
Nancy ♥ exquisitely.me
Thanks, Nancy. I also try to find different wellness activities that will keep me sane during this time 🙂
Thank you for your work as a healthcare worker! I can’t imagine how nerve-wracking it must have been to be re-assigned out of the blue, but I’m glad you were able to take care of yourself during it all.
Thank you for your kind words. I was really nervous, but I’m thankful to find people who were willing to teach and lend a helping hand.
I loved reading about your ‘one door closing while another one opens’ experience! It is incredible what comes out of the little things we do, when we think all inspiration has abandoned us, and I look forward to seeing the outfits you come up with. 🙂
True. It’s incredible how things can unfold into something beautiful. Sometimes we just need to listen to our hearts, do the things that inspire us, go with the flow, and open our world to possibilities.
Thanks Fritzie – these are all such good reminders. I’m enjoying being slowed down for a while! But it’s driving my husband a little crazy. Congrats on your new partnership! Cute outfits and great photos. 🙂
I also enjoyed being slowed down for a while. The surgical center reopened, so life is getting busier again. Thank you so much for reading my dear friend. Hope you are having a lovely Sunday!
Congratulations on the campaign with NY & Company! I love their clothes and definitely can’t wait to see your photos.
Thank you so much for all you do as a nurse – I can’t imagine how overwhelming life has been for you lately. You’re so appreciated! <3
All of these are valuable lessons! I definitely am also one of those people who always has to be working otherwise I feel unproductive. So, learning how to rest and accepting that I don't have to be productive at all times is something that I still have to work on.
Much love always,

Thank you Gabby. I really appreciate your kind words. Yes, it’s not easy not to be planning or doing something productive all the time. And, I’m still working on it too.
Found this super useful, I think everyone is finding things pretty hard at the moment!

This is insightful. When the lockdown began, I posted about things I can do during lockdown. And it is so timely to find your blog because it inspires to finish my draft on “things I have accomplished during lockdown”. 🙂
Thank you. I hope you’ll finish your draft soon… curious to know what you have accomplished during this lockdown.
