A slice of freshly baked homemade thin crust pizza is on the table. There’s a glass of merlot left untouched as I continued to type on my laptop. From where I’m sitting, I can see the view outside through a sliding glass window. Beside the window is a glass table full of wedding mementos.
My husband is sitting on the sofa browsing the web with his cellphone while singing “Somewhere Out There, ” which is simultaneously playing on the music channel. There’s a mix of throw pillows on the right side of the sofa. A Norfolk island pine tree, about one foot tall growing from a ceramic pot is on top of the side table.
I live in a one bedroom apartment with a small dining/living room area. Though I write in this little corner of the world, I am grateful for what I have. I am surrounded by the things that make me happy!
The wedding photo on the glass table inspired me to write We Eloped: 3 Lessons I Learned on How to Have an Unforgettable Wedding. The picture brings back beautiful memories of our special day.
The throw pillows on the sofa remind me of my best friend; we found these pillows while shopping in Marshalls three years ago. I just moved back to New York, and I was going through a rough time adjusting to my new life. She was there to listen and help me get back on my feet again.
The Norfolk pine tree on the side table was my little Christmas tree. I bought it from a CVS pharmacy store more than a year ago. I’ve always thought I don’t have a green thumb, so I gave up trying to grow anything. However, I decided to take care of the plant. It has become taller and greener; my little tree is thriving!
So, tell me a bit about the room where you write. Do you have a few items around that inspire you? Please share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
