10 New Things I’m Trying This 2021

Why should we try something new?

Trying new things stimulates creativity, expands our minds,  conquers fears, and opens possibilities to better opportunities. It also helps alleviate boredom and rejuvenate our mind, body, and spirit.

The current pandemic restrictions may not give us a lot of options to experience different activities. However, we can still make the most of what we have and try something new to enrich our lives.

1. New Mantra

Focus on the Good.

I’m starting with a positive mindset. It’s hard sometimes. But If I listen to all the negative thoughts in my mind, I won’t function well. So, yes… this mantra might sound like a cliche… but these words keep me going.

Focus on the Good.

2. New Skills

The surgical center where I work temporarily closed again, and I’ll be deployed to a different hospital unit. Last Monday, my colleagues and I went through a Nursing Skills training to prepare us for our new responsibilities. I’m actually nervous, but I know I have to muster my courage, dive in, and give it my best shot.

On a lighter note, I’m also thinking of learning a few blogging and vlogging skills. I’ve been checking out Udemy’s online courses, and there’s a ton of topics that piqued my interest.

3. New Books

Thanks to recommendations from my fellow bloggers, I have created my 2021 must-read list. The top 3 books on my list are Untamed by Glennon Doyle, Becoming by Michelle Obama, and The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

4. New Workout

My hubby loves to play soccer. However, his medical condition got in the way, and he hasn’t kicked a ball for several years. Nowadays, he’s been playing Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) games on his android tablet. I guess that will change soon because we plan to do a few soccer drills together.

5. New Outfits

I collaborated with New York and Company last year, and I’m looking forward to wearing a few of their 2021 collections. I’m so excited to play with new colors, prints, and patterns. It’s always fun to mix and match different pieces and come up with a stylish outfit.

6. New Skincare

I’ve shared with you my go-to skincare routine to fight maskne. This year, I’d like to test a few more K-beauty products formulated to help fade acne scars, even out skin tone, and brighten the complexion. Some of the products on my list are Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vit C serum and Goodal Vita C Dark Spot Serum Set.

7. New Makeup

Have you tried any Charlotte Tilbury makeup? I got a few products from this brand: Luxury Eyeshadow Palette, Cheek to Chic Blush, and the Mini Lipstick and Liner Set. I can’t wait to try ’em all and learn how to get the Pillow Talk look!

8. New Decor

I got inspired by Charity of Mornings on Macedonia to incorporate modern farmhouse decor into our home. I started redecorating last December, and our place feels and looks a lot cozier. I’m planning to add a few more touches to freshen up our space for Spring!

9. New Recipes

My friend Peter makes one of the best Amaretto cake. It is such a party favorite that a lot of people asked him for the recipe. I am one of the lucky ones who got hold of the recipe, and I can’t wait to try making it for Valentine’s Day.

10. New Places

I don’t know when this pandemic will be over and when we can travel freely again. But, I’m still adding this to my list with a prayer that things will get better for us soon.

What are some of the things you want to try this year? Please share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely weekend!

  1. This is fun! I’m looking at taking a few more courses to up my blogging games as well! I recently got my hands on the ‘SEO The Easy Way’ ebook, so I’m working my way through it and the corresponding workbook right now. After that, I’m considering taking some courses to work on my video skills (especially my video editing skills which are currently all but non-existent lol)

  2. Love this post and I love the idea of trying new things each year! I’m also trying new skincare and I want to try new workouts & makeup as well! Thank you for sharing this and giving me some inspiration!

  3. I love reading about the ways you are moving forward in 2021! Learning a new skill is so heartening and inspires a lot of self-confidence. 🙂

I also love that you are incorporating modern farmhouse elements into your home; there is nothing like feeling a little cosy in any given room. The lipstick and liner set sounds amazing; I look forward to seeing photos once you achieve the pillow talk look and maybe even a glimpse of this decadent amaretto cake!

Best of luck and may 2021 offer many new collaborations and opportunities.

    1. I don’t know if I can nail this Pillow Talk look, but I’m having so much fun playing with makeup lately. I’ll definitely share a photo of the cake and the recipe here.
Thanks for reading, and I hope 2021 will bring you more exciting opportunities too.

  4. I totally agree! ❤️Have so far done a few of these but new recipes is definitely one I want to do more of 😊😊

  5. Oooh love the new things you’re trying out this year. I like the idea of a new mantra. Focusing on the good will bring you more peace than anything. Even though the surgical center you were at closed, it is great that you still have work. It is great that you’re going to be playing soccer with your hubby! That is so cute! I really need to get into K-beauty. I’ve only been in the entry level of Shiseido and they can get expensive really quick @__@. It is great that you’re trying to improve your life this year in all aspects!!! Keep it up!!
